Richard has held senior commercial positions with McLaren, the Jaguar Le Mans and Daytona 24 hour sports car teams, and Williams Formula 1. He also administered the MSA British Touring Car Championship. Having raised in excess of $160m in commercial sponsorship, he now runs a range of businesses across motorsport, management training and sponsorship acquisition.
Richard has worked with many of the most talented drivers of his generation, including Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, the late Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell and Michael Schumacher. Richard’s close working relationship with these Grand Prix legends adds greatly to his presentations.
With business lessons drawn directly from F1, Richard demonstrates the need for open and constant communication; alignment of goals between individuals, teams and partners; the ability to make quick decisions, and the importance of leadership at every level of the organization. He shows how the real gains come at the boundaries.
Presentations can include a pit-stop challenge, in which teams of delegates compete to carry out complete tyre changes using actual Williams F1 racing cars. Not only is it a galvanizing and enjoyable experience – it also provides a focus for a multitude of management issues.
