Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls OBE (born 7 June 1974) is a British adventurer, writer and television presenter. He first drew attention after embarking on a number of adventures. In 1998 he became the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, aged 23. In 2006, Grylls united his love of climbing and film-making to host Man vs. Wild on Channel 4. The show’s popularity led to three spin-off shows: Born Survivor: Bear Grylls in 2010 (Phuket, Thailand for eight episodes), an American version titled Escape or Die Trying which debuted in January 2012, and Running Wild with Bear Grylls from 2014 onwards.
